Wake up and feel the wood! In the first of a series of irresistible standalone romances from New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett, a city girl rediscovers love and lust in the Alaskan wilderness.
Valentine French may be the sassiest dating columnist in New York City, but the abundance of metrosexuals in her adopted metropolis is seriously cramping her style. Where are the beefy all-American boys? Hoping to find some inspiration, Val heads to Alaska, where the men outnumber the women fifteen to one and wrestle grizzly bears for sport. Or so she can only imagine. Suddenly the most eligible bachelorette in a town full of horny lumberjacks, Val is writing her best columns ever. But if she doesn’t get her nose out of her laptop, she just might miss out on Mr. Right.
Logan Burke is the sheriff of the little podunk town that Val finds so charmingly backward. He’s not that different from the guys she’s using for her little experiment; it’s just that one date would never be enough for Logan. As he listens to Val complain about love over beers in the local tavern, he realizes that she can’t see the forest for the trees. Because if she would ever give up her Prada bags and fourteen-dollar martinis, Logan would give her the only luxury that matters: his heart.
Light, sweet small town romance featuring a refreshing bunch of characters with charm, wit and so much more you’ll totally fall for.
If you need a reason to convince you to read this contemporary romance then let me just go ahead and give you the only one you need:
Sheriff Logan Burke.
This sexy bearded chief of police might be the perfect gentleman in the streets, but he’s the freak between the sheets you know you want to keep. He’ll open your door for you and pull out your chair. He’ll just also cuff you to bed and pull on your hair.
I could probably talk about him all day he’s just that dreamy. And then there’s the beautiful Valentine French, old money wealthy, dating and sex advice blogger living the high life in Manhattan. At least she was until she went to Alaska to date a bunch of men and blog about her experiences.
Now I won’t go into the details of the plot too much more but I would like to add this. Valentine French was a refreshingly honest, enjoyable heroine who I thoroughly loved getting to know. She might have had no real career because financially she didn’t need one, she might have loved to shop, (and I mean a lot) at the most expensive designer stores but you know what? She owned that shit. She totally owned the person she was and made no excuses for it. Her refreshing attitude drew me in from the start and when Logan Burke and the rest of the characters in this book came along, I became fully invested in this story even if it was going to be predictable.
And predictable it was, BUT, you know what? I didn’t really care. I normally don’t enjoy predictable fluffy reads, but this is the second contemporary romance this month I have finished reading and enjoyed! Maybe my cold, lover of dark romance heart needed a break from the heavy stuff. And if you do too, then Sex In The Sticks comes with my recommendation.
You might swoon…..Who am I kidding, you WILL swoon.
You will definitely have a laugh at the small town antics.
You might even blush in more than one of the steamy scenes this book has to offer.
It’s four stars from me.

A reformed trial lawyer from North Carolina, Sawyer uses real life experience to create relatable, sexy stories that appeal to a wide array of readers. From new adult to erotic contemporary romance, Sawyer writes something for just about everyone.
Sawyer likes her Bloody Marys strong, her martinis dirty, and her heroes a combination of the two. When not bringing fictional romance to life, Sawyer is a chauffeur, stylist, chef, maid, and personal assistant to a very active toddler, as well as full-time servant to two adorably naughty dogs. She believes in the good of others, and that a bad day can be cured with a great work-out, cake, or a combination of the two.
