The Secret by Christie Ridgway
Review by Bel
The Secret was a heart-warming contemporary romance. If you enjoy the sweet kind with a side of drama and secrets than you might find yourself enjoying this instalment in the Billionaire’s Beach series.
While I can’t say I loved this book myself, it did bring a smile to my face at times as I watched Ethan and Charlie’s relationship grow. Charlie’s character is what drew me in from the first page. Her love for Ethan’s son and protective nature had me eager to find out where the story was heading. Overall there really isn’t anything I didn’t like about this book. It’s good a good storyline with strong characters. But I also can’t tell you what I really loved about it either. The Secret wasn’t a stand out for me but don’t let my opinion persuade you too much if you are a big lover of those steamy sweet romances. While I might not be one of those readers, I am still glad I read this book. Christie Ridgway was a new author to me and I know if I’m in the mood for a light read I’ll be checking out her other books.

Being butler to a widower and single father is a dream job in more ways than one for Charlotte “Charlie” Emerson. She helps keep businessman Ethan Archer’s household running without a hitch and enjoys every minute she has with his six-year-old son, Wells. But as time passes, the situation feels alarmingly intimate and when her heart starts beating faster each time Ethan steps through the door, Charlie must exert rigid control over her feelings.
With her secret, falling in love would be all kinds of bad…
Ethan Archer values the woman who keeps his life in order and cares so much for his motherless boy. He and Charlie act in harmony with each other and it’s not hard to picture them as a little family…in fact, it’s so easy, one reckless night he proposes a marriage of convenience.
What will he do if Charlie says yes? And worse, what if she tells him no?
