trying not to get swept away.
Avalanche by Cambria
4 Stars – Review by Bel Burgess
There aren’t many Cambria Hebert books I don’t fall hard and fast for. She dominates the new adult genre and Avalanche is a prime example of why. If you’re a fan of NA novels and enjoy a side of suspense with your romance than Avalanche might be a book for you.
The suspense lover in me was absolutely captivated by Avalanche from the opening scene. What a killer prologue it was. The chills. The angst. It was all on point. My only wish was for that level of suspense and mystery to continue throughout the entire book. Unfortunately it didn’t. In saying that, the action and suspense did pick up towards the end, which definitely peaked my interest again.
This second chance romance has a strong insta-love feel which while I didn’t hate it, I didn’t love it either. But seriously, it was impossible not to adore Liam and Bellamy both as a couple and individually. I was also too invested in where this story was headed to let the insta-love feel really bother me.
One thing about Avalanche that really stood out for me was the way Miss Hebert scripted such amazing imagery. I could picture it all. The resort. The town. The room where Bellamy and Liam meet again for the first time in years. It allowed the story to feel wildly real, and I loved that.
With a mystery to sink your teeth into. A big, shaggy dog to love. A charming best friend you’ll want more of. And of course, Bellamy and Liam and all the feels. Avalanche is a solid story with the best of everything. Humour. Suspense. Action. Romance. But most of all, love.
While I may not have loved everything about Avalanche, I devoured it and can not wait to see what else is brewing for Liam and Bellamy.
Let me start off with that prologue??? Holy crap! That was intense, page turning and kept me wanting no, NEEDING more! Cambria is one of the very authors I’ll read who writes NA purely because it’s not a genre I always want to read!! Anyways Avalanche? LOVED It! Action suspense and mystery are so fun to read, always sitting on edge and wondering what’s going to happen next add in a second chance at love well that right there is an absolute favourite of mine to read! I loved the setting of the story as well! Cannot wait to see what is next on the agenda for Bellamy and Liam 😍 4 stars
